The Pima Community College Athletics program topped its best total of individual student-athletes for the second straight year and had one team named as NJCAA All-Academic.

Pima Community College baseball multi-tasker Michael Wong has committed to play at the NCAA Division I level.

Pima baseball coach Rich Alday stepped down after returning to the Aztecs for one season. He coached at Pima for 17 years from 1974-1989 and earned his 500th career victory on Jan. 30. Pima Community College baseball coach Rich Alday stepped down as the program’s head coach and one of his former assistants at the University of New Mexico was chosen to be his successor.

Pima Community College baseball player Enrique Porchas (Kofa HS) received recognition from the Arizona Community Conference Athletic Conference on Monday as the post season teams were released.

Freshman Mason Myhre (Canyon del Oro HS) threw a no hitter in the first game win. He had 11 strikeouts and four walks. The Aztecs closed out the 2018 season with a 21-31 overall record and 11-29 in ACCAC play. Photo by Ben Carbajal

The Pima Community College baseball team (21-31, 11-29 in ACCAC) closed out the 2018 season on Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field.

Freshman Michael Wong had two of Pima's three hits in the second game as he finished the game 2 for 3. The Aztecs fell 7-1 and 6-1 to Glendale Community College. The Pima Community College baseball team (20-30, 10-28 in ACCAC) struggled to manufacture runs on Tuesday in its ACCAC doubleheader against Glendale Community College (29-25, 21-17).

The Pima Community College baseball team (20-26, 10-24 in ACCAC) were silenced on offense in the first game but freshmen Matthew Hackman (Empire HS) and Elisandro Diaz (Salpointe Catholic HS) sparked the Aztecs to bounce back.

The Pima Community College baseball team (19-24, 9-23 in ACCAC play) got some major contributions from the top of the order in the line-up and a boost from its bullpen on Saturday to help earn a split against No. 7 Mesa Community College (35-13, 19-13).

The Pima Community College baseball team (16-24, 8-22 in ACCAC) hit a wall again on Saturday as it dropped the doubleheader against Arizona Western College (32-12, 16-8).

Freshman Adam Morgaga had produced a quality start in the first game going six innings giving up four runs (one earned) on five hits with three strikeouts but took the loss. The Pima Community College baseball team (16-20, 8-18 in ACCAC) struggled with errors on Saturday as it dropped two games against Cochise College (29-11, 14-6) at the West Campus Baseball Field.

Freshman Rafael Padilla (Nogales HS) got the offensive barrage started in the 1st inning of the second game as he hit a two-run RBI single.
