Pima baseball pitcher Contreras commits to New Mexico State University

Pima Community College baseball player Jose Contreras (Tucson HS) committed to an NCAA Division I school to continue his education and collegiate career.

Contreras, a sophomore pitcher, will play in Las Cruces, NM for New Mexico State University beginning in the fall.

Contreras made 14 appearances this season and went 5-4 with a 3.68 ERA. He pitched 51.5 innings giving up 21 earned runs and had 47 strikeouts. He threw 61.1 innings last season with a 6-2 record and a 3.23 ERA with 48 strikeouts.
