Tucson, AZ – The Pima Community College softball and baseball games have been cancelled this weekend due to incoming weather conditions.

Baseball pitcher Emilio Lovato signed his letter of intent to play at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK. Pima Community College baseball pitcher Emilio Lovato signed his letter of intent to continue his education and collegiate career at the four-year university level.

Sophomore outfielder/RHP Phillip Sikes was named to the NJCAA Honorable Mention All-american team on Tuesday. He becomes the first Pima baseball All-American since 2008. He batted .369 with a team-leading 25 extra base hits. He also went 2-1 with a 0.96 ERA in 10 appearances. Photos by Ben Carbajal

Pima Community College baseball players Enrique Porchas (Kofa HS) and Rafael Padilla (Nogales HS) will continue to be teammates for a couple more years as the duo committed to play at the NCAA Division I level.

The Pima Community College baseball team is sending four of impactful players on to the NCAA Division I level.

Five Aztecs baseball players were selected to the All-ACCAC/All-Region teams. Phillip Sikes and Cole Cummings were named to the first team while Austin Bryan, Enrique Porchas and Javier Nava earned second team honors. The Pima Community College baseball program had a breakout season and it showed as the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference release its All-Conference and All-Region teams.

The Aztecs baseball team lost its make-up game from Feb. 19 and a doubleheader at South Mountain Community College on Saturday. The Aztecs fell short of the Region playoffs as their season ended with a 36-19 overall record and 22-16 in ACCAC play. The 36 wins is the most in a single season since 1993. Photo by Danielle Main

The Pima Community College baseball team (36-19, 22-16 in ACCAC) had a rough outing on Saturday at South Mountain Community College (38-18, 25-13) to close the 2019 season.

The Aztecs recognized their 14 sophomores before Tuesday's games. The Aztecs earned a spluit with Arizona Western College to improve to 36-16 overall and 22-13 in ACCAC conference play. The Pima Community College baseball team (36-16, 22-13 in ACCAC) bounced back after playing in a marathon with Arizona Western College (36-18, 21-15) on Tuesday at the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field.

Freshman Cole Cummings became the seventh Pima baseball player this season to be selected ACCAC Division I Player of the Week. He batted .615 (8 for 13) with 12 RBIs, eight runs scored, three triples, two homers, five walks and two stolen bases as the Aztecs went 3-1 against Eastern Arizona College and Cochise College. The Pima Community College baseball team (35-15, 21-12 in ACCAC) played a back and forth ACCAC Division I doubleheader on Saturday against No. 8 ranked Cochise College (40-11, 24-10).

Freshman Cole Cummings was unstoppable at the plate as he went 5 for 7 with 10 RBIs, four runs, three triples, three walks and a home run on the day. The Pima Community College baseball team (34-14, 20-11 in ACCAC) recorded its fourth straight doubleheader sweep on Tuesday after scoring 28 runs against Eastern Arizona College (15-33, 5-27).

Pima Community College baseball players Phillip Sikes and Austin Bryan (Sahuarita HS) had big weeks on the field and were rewarded by the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference for the week of Apr. 8-14.

Sophomore Phillip Sikes went 5 for 7 with two RBIs and two runs. He also picked up his fourth save of the season as the Aztecs baseball team earned another big ACCAC Division I sweep at Yavapai College. The Pima Community College baseball team (32-14, 18-11 in ACCAC) earned its third straight sweep on Saturday as it picked up another huge doubleheader victory on the road.

Sophomore pitcher Hayden Udall (Campo Verde HS) was selected ACCAC Division I Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday. He threw a complete-game giving up one run (one earned) on seven hits with seven strikeouts and no walks in Pima's 6-1 win over Chandler-Gilbert Community College.
