Bio

Started at Pima: 2017 (Second stint with Pima)
Education: Coach Alday earned his Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and a Master's degree in Guidance Counceling from Emporia State University in Kansas. He graduated from Tucson Magnet High School.
Coaching Experience: Coach Alday was the Pima baseball coach from 1974 to 1989 where he compiled a record of 496-220. He was a 3-time NJCAA All-Region Coach. He guided his teams to a second place finish at the NJCAA World Series, 5-time ACCAC conference champions and three NJCAA World Series appearances.
In 1988 Coach Alday was a bench coach for Team USA Baseball when it won the Olympic gold metal in Seoul, South Korea. In 1996 he was an auxiliary assistant coach when it won the bronze medal in Atlanta.
Coach Alday was hired at the University of New Mexico where he retired as their winningest coach in history. He won his 1,000 career collegiate game at the Air Force Academy on April 16, 2007.
Playing Experience: Coach Alday lettered in baseball and football at Tucson High. He played catcher for a year at the University of Arizona before transfering to Emporia State University. He was a two-tim All-American Honorable Mention. He played professionally for teams in the Major League Baseball's Washington Senators farm system.
Awards: Coach Alday is a member of the Pima Athletics Hall of Fame (2013) and the Pima County Sports Hall of Fame (1994). He was also named No. 40 in the Arizona Daily Star's list of Tucson's top 50 athletic figures of the 20th century.
