Aztecs Men's Basketball Falls Against Glendale CC

The Pima Community College men's basketball team (13-10, 8-7 in ACCAC) could not find the run it needed in the second half on Saturday against Glendale Community College (12-11, 6-9).

The Aztecs lost 83-75 after they trailed most of the game but could not overtake a lead. They fell behind early in the first half as Glendale went on a 12-1 run to open the game. Freshman Dakota Kordsiemon (Catalina Foothills HS) scored Pima's first field goal at the 11:06 mark. Later in the first half, the Aztecs went on a 10-0 run to tie the game at 18-18 and again at 20-20 but the Gauchos went on a 6-0 run to take a slim lead. The Aztecs trailed 35-30 at halftime.

In the second half, the Aztecs trailed 46-41 but the Gauchos hit three-pointers on back-to-back possessions to take a double digit lead at 52-41. Later in the half, sophomore Cameron Volk (Tucson Magnet HS) made a shot and fellow sophomore Yusef Shehata (Amphitheater HS) had an opportunity for a three-point play to cut it to 58-52 with 11:28 left but that's as close as they would get the rest of the game.

Freshman Kwintin Williams scored a team-high 24 points and had 10 rebounds and two blocks. Kordsiemon scored 17 points off the bench as he went 5 for 7 from the field. Sophomore Justice Martion had eight points and nine rebounds.

The Aztecs will host Eastern Arizona College on Wednesday at the West Campus. The game will be at 7:30 p.m.
