Aztecs men's basketball drop 116 points in route at South Mountain

The Pima Community College men's basketball team (9-3, 4-1 in ACCAC) took control of its game at South Mountain Community College (6-5, 0-5). The Aztecs beat the Cougars 116-84 on Saturday in Phoenix.

The Aztecs took a 55-36 lead at halftime and went on to outscore the Cougars 61-48 for the second half.

All 11 players for the Aztecs scored led by sophomore Deion James (Empire HS), who finished with 33 points and eight rebounds. Fellow sophomore Zach Evans (Hamilton HS) had eight points and eight assists.

This was the first time the Aztecs and the Cougars met since their match-up in the Region I, Division II semifinals last season where the Aztecs fell 96-81.

The Aztecs are off for the winter break and will host Benedictine University at Mesa on Monday, Jan. 2 at the West Campus. The game starts at 2:00 p.m.
