The Pima Community College men's basketball team (18-8, 12-6 in ACCAC) stymied No. 25 Cochise College (21-5, 13-5) with its quickness and inside play on Wednesday at the West Campus.

The No. 20 ranked Aztecs (Division II) defeated the Apaches (Division I) 110-102 as they became winners of seven of their last eight games.

The Aztecs and the Apaches played a tight game in the first 10 minutes but the Aztecs went on a 7-0 run to take a double digit lead at 32-21 with 8:20 left in the half. Pima led by as much as 14 points at 48-34. Pima held a 50-39 lead at the break.

The Apaches came back and closed the Pima lead to seven points at 87-80 but the inside presence of sophomores Damon Dubots and Deion James (Empire HS) proved to be too much.

The sharp-shooting of sophomore Emilio Acedo (Salpointe Catholic HS) and freshman Isaiah Murphy (Cienega HS) were also difference makers as Acedo dropped 26 points on 9 for 16 shooting and 4 for 7 from three-point range. He also had seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. Murphy also scored 26 points and did his work from the foul line as he went 10 for 12 for the game.

Dubots finished the game with 19 points, seven rebounds and two blocks while James had his 15th double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds to go along with seven assists. Freshman Alize Travis contributed with seven points, eight assists and two steals off the bench.

The Aztecs split the regular season meetings with the Apaches. Pima fell 96-83 last month in Douglas.

The Aztecs will play at No. 11 Phoenix College on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
