Six score in double figures as Aztecs men's basketball tops Utah State-Eastern

The Pima Community College men's basketball team (10-1) returned from the holiday break and earned a win over a Division I school on Thursday in the first day of the Bruce Fleck Classic.

The No. 6 ranked Aztecs used a 16-3 run in the second half to beat Utah State University-Eastern 99-81.

The Aztecs led 45-29 at halftime but the Eagles came out in the second half and cut Pima's lead to single digits on a couple of occasions before the Aztecs went on the run.

Sophomore Keven Biggs (Cienega HS) scored a game-high 20 points to go along with eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Freshman Abram Carrasco (Cholla HS) got the start and scored 19 points with five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Sophomore Isaiah Murphy (Cienega HS) scored 16 points while fellow sophomore Justin Bessard scored 11 points off the bench. Freshman Jeremiah Bailey had 10 points and eight rebounds and freshman Elloheim Clark contributed with 10 points and four steals off the bench.

The Aztecs return to the West Campus Gymnasium on Friday against Macomb Community College at 5:00 p.m.
