Biggs scores 21 points as Aztecs men's basketball smothers Mesa CC

The Pima Community College men's basketball team (16-2, 8-2 in ACCAC) earned a dominating victory on the road on Wednesday against Division I Mesa Community College (8-9, 6-4).

The No. 8 ranked Aztecs beat the Thunderbirds 106-70. The Aztecs took an 18-7 lead with 14:15 left in the first half and proceeded to go on a 17-0 run in the next seven minutes to take a 35-7 advantage. The Aztecs held the Thunderbirds to 18 points in the half to lead 57-18.

Sophomore Keven Biggs (Cienega HS) scored all 21 points of his points in the first half. He also had eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Sophomore Ilunga Moise (Raymond S. Kellis HS) contributed with a double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds on 6 for 9 shooting. Freshman Jeremiah Bailey finished 7 for 9 from the field with 16 points to go along with seven rebounds off the bench.

Freshman Abram Carrasco (Cholla HS) scored all 15 of his points in the second half while sophomore Alize Travis had 14 points and seven assists. Freshman Robert Wilson (Salpointe Catholic HS) was the sixth Aztec to score in double figures as he contributed with 11 points on 5 for 5 shooting and seven rebounds.

The Aztecs out-rebounded the Thunderbirds 57-45 for the game and had 24 assists for the game.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Gymnasium on Saturday when they host Arizona Western College at 4:00 p.m.
