Aztecs men's basketball deny South Mountain CC for 8th straight victory
The Pima Community College men's basketball (22-2, 14-2 in ACCAC) team continued to roll as it picked up its eighth straight win on Wednesday in Phoenix.
The No. 5 ranked Aztecs defeated South Mountain Community College 90-73. The Aztecs have won 17 of their last 18 games and surpassed their conference win total of 13 wins from last season with four weeks left in the regular season.
The Aztecs held on to a 49-48 lead at halftime and outscored the Cougars (16-8, 9-7) 41-25 in the second half.
Freshman Abram Carrasco (Cholla HS) scored a team-high 22 points to go along with eight rebounds while sophomore Alize Travis finished with 20 points, seven assists, four steals and four rebounds. Sophomore Justin Bessard contributed with 14 points and five rebounds.
The Aztecs swept the regular season meetings with the Cougars as Pima won 112-80 back in December at the West Campus Gymnasium.
The Aztecs return to the West Campus Gym on Saturday when they host Scottsdale Community College at 7:00 p.m.
