Pima Community College men's basketball player Keven Biggs (Cienega HS) earned a high honor from the NJCAA on Tuesday.

Biggs, a sophomore guard, was named second team NJCAA All-American. He became only the sixth men's basketball player to earn the recognition and is the third All-American in the last four years for coach Brian Peabody. Deion James (Empire HS) was named first team NJCAA All-American last year and Murphy Gershman (Tucson HS) was selected second team in 2015. The previous Aztecs selected to the NJCAA All-Americans list are Darrell King (1991), James Ford (1990) and Greg Cook (1980)

Biggs returned after red-shirting the 2016-17 season. He played and started in 30 games this season averaging a team-high 17.0 points per game. He also averaged 5.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 block. He averaged 37 percent from three-point range and 79.7 percent at the free throw line. In his Pima career, Biggs won 48 games.

Biggs' best game at the NJCAA Division II Tournament came when he scored 34 points and hit nine 3-pointers in Pima's win over Highland Community College to advance to the Final Four.

He was named first team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II. Biggs was named the Region I, Division II Finals game MVP after he scored 26 points against Phoenix College.

The Aztecs closed out their history-making season with a runner-up finish at the NJCAA Division II Tournament and produced an overall record of 31-5. They led the nation in points per game (102.4) and field goals made (1,304).

Biggs is undecided right now as to where he will continue his collegiate career.
