Cordova finishes in top 5 as Aztecs men's golf take 4th at Glendale Invitational

The Pima Community College men's golf team opened the 2018 season as part of the Glendale Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Los Caballeros Golf Club in Wickenburg, AZ.

The Aztecs finished in fourth place with a team score of 640 (319-321). They were seven-shots behind Eastern Arizona College for third place, who finished at 633 (307-326). South Mountain Community College place d first with 612 (314-298) and Mesa Community College took second place with 627 (311-316).

Sophomore Cooper Cordova (Mountain View HS) tied for fifth place in the individual standings as he shot a 154 (75-79) for the par 144 course (par 72 per round).

Fellow sophomore Johnny Fiore (Marana HS) took 13th place with a 157 (78-79) while sophomore Bobby Padilla (Catalina Foothills HS) finished with a 164 (82-82) which put him tied for 18th.

Freshman Trevor Gregoire (Canyon del Oro HS) had a six-stroke improvement from his first round as he shot a 168 (87-81) and freshman Sean Moreno (Marana HS) finished with a 171 (86-85).

The Aztecs return to the golf course for the Estrella Mountain Invitational on Feb. 20-21 at the Wigwam Golf Club.
