The Pima Community College men's soccer team (3-0, 3-0 in ACCAC) faced its toughest test of the early season on Tuesday but found a way to stay undefeated.
The No. 5 ranked Aztecs defeated No. 17 Phoenix College 2-1 after scoring two second half goals to complete the comeback.
Down 1-0, the Aztecs got a spark from freshman Julian Gaona (Tucson Magnet HS). He scored his first goal on a shot to the upper right corner to tie the game in the 64th minute. He hit the game-winner in the 79th minute on a tap shot as fellow freshman Gavino Carranza (Salpointe Catholic HS) had the cross-pass assist.
Kalvin Parr scored the only goal in the first half for the Bears (2-1, 2-1) to give them a 1-0 lead at the break. The Aztecs had three shots on goal late in the half but couldn't put one in.
The Aztecs outshot the Bears 7-6 for the game. Sophomore Taylor Anderson (Salpointe Catholic HS) finished with three saves.
The Aztecs face another tough test on Saturday when they play at No. 8 Yavapai College in Prescott at 6:00 p.m.
