Aztec Men's Soccer Suffer First Defeat in Close Game at Yavapai College

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (3-1, 3-1 in ACCAC) faced another tough battle at Yavapai College on Saturday and suffered its first defeat of the season.

The No. 5 ranked Aztecs struck first, early in the second half, but the No. 8 ranked Roughriders hit the game-winner with 45 seconds left as the Aztecs fell 2-1 in Prescott.

Sophomore Carlo Valadez-Paz (Westview HS) broke open a scoreless tie in the 53rd minute with a goal. Sophomore Hector Banegas (Rincon HS) had the assist. The Roughriders tied the game in the 60th minute.

The Aztecs were outshot 7-5 for the game. Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Anderson (Salpointe Catholic HS) finished the game with five saves.

The Aztecs will hit the road once again on Tuesday when they play at Scottsdale Community College at 5:30 p.m.
