Bianchi Scores Game Winner as Men's Soccer Beats GateWay

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (12-3-1, 12-3-1 in ACCAC) escaped a tight game on the road on Saturday in Phoenix.

The No. 10 ranked Aztecs defeated GateWay Community College (3-11-1, 3-11-1) 1-0. Sophomore Andrew Bianchi (Salpointe Catholic HS) broke a scoreless tie in the 54th minute with his goal. Fellow sophomore Carlo Valadez-Paz (Westview HS) had the assist.

The Pima defense held the Geckos without a shot on goal. The Aztecs finished with nine shots for the game.

Sophomore goalkeeper James McWilliams (Sahuaro HS) started at goalkeeper and finished with no saves.

The Aztecs swept the regular season head-to-head meetings with the Geckos. Pima won 2-0 at the Kino North Grandstand last month.

The Aztecs will play three of their final four regular season games at Kino North Stadium. They will host Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Pima goal: Bianchi (Valadez-Paz) 54th minute.
