Ishihara and Manzo net goals as Aztecs men's soccer holds on against Paradise Valley CC

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (1-0-1, 1-0 in ACCAC) opened ACCAC conference play on Thursday at Kino North Stadium.

  • The No. 1 ranked Aztecs defeated Paradise Valley Community College 2-1.
  • The Aztecs added to their lead with freshman Esteban Manzo (Salpointe Catholic HS) scored in the box with an assist from fellow freshman Hakon Reitan in the 68th minute. The Pumas (0-3, 0-1) kept the pressure on as Raul Roa scored one minute later. Paradise Valley didn't have another shot on goal the remainder of the game.
  • Sophomore Itsuki Ishihara put the Aztecs on the board late in the first half with an assist from fellow sophomore Yuki Jahara in the 38th minute.
  • The Aztecs finished with five shots on goal while sophomore goalkeeper Nils Roth had three saves.

The Aztecs will be back at Kino North Stadium on Thursday, Sept. 5 when they host GateWay Community College. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
