Aztecs men's tennis fall at No. 7 Mesa CC

The Pima Community College men's tennis team (2-3, 1-3 in ACCAC) dropped an ACCAC conference match-up at Mesa Community College on Wednesday.

The Aztecs fell to the No. 7 ranked Thunderbirds 7-2 as Pima won two matches by default.

In doubles competition, the No. 1 doubles duo of sophomores Marc Avalos (Sunnyside HS) and Francisco Ton (Nogales HS) lost to Linus Holthey and Noel Maurin 8-2. The No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Dalton Reisig (Catalina Foothills HS) and freshman Francisco Sotelo (Cholla HS) fell to David Felix and Eduardo Couto 8-3.

Reisig played a tight first set at No. 3 singles but lost to Kim Donghyun 6-4, 6-2.

Avalos dropped his match at No. 1 singles to Felix 6-0, 6-2 while Ton was defeated by Holthey at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-1. Sotelo lost at No. 4 singles against Maurin 6-2, 6-2 while sophomore Jesus Lopez (Canyon del Oro HS) was shut out by Couto at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0.

The Aztecs return to the West Campus Tennis Courts on Thursday, Apr. 6 when they host Glendale Community College. The match will be at 1:30 p.m.
