Aztecs men's tennis dominate Glendale CC
The Pima Community College men's tennis team (3-3, 2-3 in ACCAC) hosted its final regular season home match of the season on Thursday at the West Campus Tennis Courts.
The Aztecs defeated Glendale Community College 9-0.
Sophomores Marc Avalos (Sunnyside HS) and Francisco Ton (Nogales HS) earned shutout wins in singles and doubles competition. Avalos defeated Bryan Castanon at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-0 while Ton beat Andrew Arnold 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. The No. 1 doubles duo upended Castanon and Arnold 8-0.
Sophomore Dalton Reisig (Catalina Foothills HS) also earned shutout victories in both matches. He handled Nathan Salim 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Along with No. 2 doubles partner Francisco Sotelo (Cholla HS), they beat Salim and James McLean 8-0.
Sophomore Raj Singh Kaila (Yuma HS) won his No. 4 singles match over McLean 6-0, 6-1.
The Aztecs got default victories at No. 5 and No. 6 singles as well as No. 3 doubles.
The Aztecs close out the regular season on Tuesday when they play at Paradise Valley Community College in Phoenix. The match will be at 1:30 p.m.
