Ou and Boyer win consolation final matches to close out NJCAA National Championship

The Pima Community College men's tennis team closed out the 2018 season on Friday in the final day of the NJCAA National Championship in Plano. TX.

The Aztecs finished tied for 15th place out of 26 teams with a score of 12 points.

Sophomore Tomothy Ou won the rubber match against Jorge Sala from Mesa Community College in the No. 1 singles flight consolation final 6-1, 6-3. Ou took the first meeting 6-2, 6-2 in February and lost a month later to Sala in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.

Freshman Beau Boyer (Cibola HS) played a tie-breaker in the first set and went on to win his No. 6 singles flight consolation final over Samuel Ghigiarelli from Jacksonville College (FL) 7-6 (1), 6-3.

Freshman Scott Mantelman fell short in his final match at No. 3 singles as he lost to Jordan George from the University of South Carolina Sumter 6-4, 6-2.
