Myles and Bruno set national qualifiers at the Aztec Outdoor Invitational

The Pima Community College men's and women's track & field teams hosted the Aztec Outdoor Invitational on Friday at the West Campus Track.

Freshmen Hailey Myles (Boulder Creek HS) and Katherine Bruno (Canyon del Oro HS) sets outdoor national qualifying marks on the day. Myles set a lifetime personal record and national qualifying mark at 38-feet, 9.75-inches (11.83 meters). She ranks No. 3 nationally with her mark. Bruno qualified for her second event as she set a qualifying time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11 minutes, 58.15 seconds. She is No. 5 in the country with her time. Bruno also has a national qualifier in the 1,500-meter race.

Sophomore Megan Schiffmacher (Cactus HS) improved on her national qualifying mark in the high jump as she set a season personal record at 5-feet, 6-inches (1.68 meters).

In men's competition, sophomore Seth Jarus (Wickenburg HS) improved on his qualifier and set a season personal record in the long jump with a mark of 23-feet, 11.50-inches (7.30 meters).

The 4x100 relay team of freshmen Isaiah Martin (Empire HS), Robert Williams (South Mountain HS), Dariun Glover (Skyline HS) and Duan Grant improved on their national qualifier. They finished with a time of 41.71 seconds. Their previous qualifier was 41.85 set at the Willie Williams Invitational.

The Aztecs will send representatives to compete at the Sun Angel Invitational on Saturday at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. The Aztecs will compete in the Mesa Outdoor Invitational next Friday at Mesa Community College. Competition begins at 10:00 a.m.
