National Champion Jarus signs to Idaho State University

Pima Community College men's track & field student-athlete Seth Jarus (Wickenburg HS) signed his national letter of intent on Wednesday to continue his education and collegiate career.

Jarus, a sophomore jumper, committed to Idaho State University. He claimed the ACCAC conference title in the long jump (22-feet, 11.75-inches) and set a season personal-record last week with a long jump of 23-feet, 11.50-inches (7.30 meters). He looks to repeat as the national champion in the long jump at the NJCAA Division I National Championships next month.

As a freshman, Jarus earned NJCAA first team All-American honors after claiming the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Title in the long jump. Jarus was also selected NJCAA All-Academic Third Team. He earned All-Region and All-ACCAC recognition in the long jump, javelin, high jump and triple jump. 

The Aztecs sent have sent jumpers Hannah Bartz, Treyshon Malone, Khailil Hakim and Deante Gaines to the Bengals.

The Aztecs will compete at the Mesa Outdoor Invitational on Friday at 10:00 a.m. The Region I Championships are May 1 and May 3 at Mesa Community College. The NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships will be May 17-19 held at the BG Products Veterans Sports Complex in El Dorado, KS.
