Rose scores 12 points off the bench as Aztecs women's basketball overwhelms Tohono O'odham CC

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (16-4, 10-2 in ACCAC) started fast and dominated in its game against Tohono O'odham Community College (1-19, 1-11) on Wednesday at the West Campus Gym.

The No. 6 ranked Aztecs outscored the Jegos 30-4 in the first quarter and went on to win 95-41.

The Aztecs got great production from the bench as they scored 51 points. Freshman Macey Rose (Basha HS) led the way with 12 points and eight rebounds. Freshman RyLeigh Long scored nine points and sophomore Piper Mali (Ironwood Ridge HS) contributed with eight points.

Sophomore Izzy Spruit (Mesquite HS) scored a team-high 14 points for the Aztecs as she hit four 3-pointers in the game. Fellow sophomore Christine Ortega (Flowing Wells HS) scored all 10 of her points in the second half.

The Aztecs swept the regular season meetings with the Jegos as they won 112-40 back in November in Sells, AZ.

The Aztecs will hit the road on Saturday as they play at Chandler-Gilbert Community College at 2:00 p.m.
