Aztecs women's basketball stumbles against Cochise College

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (3-3, 0-1 in ACCAC) started out the third quarter with some red hot shooting but it wasn't enough to overcome Cochise College (5-1, 1-0) on Tuesday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.

  • The No. 14 ranked Aztecs (Division II) fell to the No. 23 ranked Apaches (Division I) 99-67as Cochise outscored the Aztecs 26-11 in the final quarter to pull away.
  • Down 37-29, the Aztecs started out the third quarter on a 7-0 to make it 37-36. The Aztecs cut it to a one-point deficit again at 46-45 but the Apaches finished the quarter outscoring the Aztecs 27-11. Pima started the quarter 9 for 10 from the floor.
  • Sophomore Jacqulynn Nakai (Coconino HS) finished with 16 points and eight assists. Freshman Tyra Do also had 16 points. Sophomore Shauna Bribiescas (Dobson HS) also scored in double figures with 11 points.

The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus Gymnasium on Wednesday, Nov. 28 when they host Eastern Arizona College at 5:30 p.m.
