The Pima Community College Athletics department set new records with 11 of the 13 teams receiving NJCAA All-Academic recognition and a new school record of 74 student-athletes earning All-Academic distinction.

Five Women's Basketball players commit to four-year institutions

Pima Community College women’s basketball players Angel Addleman (Palo Verde HS), Luisa Chavez (Rio Rico HS), Matehya Aberle (Holbrook HS), Priscila Varela (Mesquite HS) and Camilla Norton (Casteel HS) all committed to continue their educational opportunities and playing careers at the four-year level.

Sophomore guard Luisa Chavez (Rio Rico HS) was named Second Team NJCAA Division II All-American. She is a 3-time All-ACCAC Conference and All-Region player. Pima Community College women’s basketball player Luisa Chavez (Rio Rico HS) is one of two players (along with teammate Angel Addleman) in program history to be a three-year active player for the Aztecs but she received a first in her Junior College career.

The Pima Community College women’s basketball team’s run through the NJCAA Division II National Tournament came to an end on Thursday in the consolation round against Bryant & Stratton College (29-6).

The No. 7 seeded Aztecs women's basketball team fell in the NJCAA Division II National Quarterfinals to No. 2 CCBC-Essex 89-75 on Wednesday. Sophomore Luisa Chavez (Rio Rico HS) scored a game-high 21 points to go along with eight rebounds and four assists while sophomore Matehya Aberle (Holbrook HS) had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (26-8) battled with the Community College of Baltimore County on Wednesday for a chance to go to the NJCAA Division II Tournament Final Four.

Sophomore Angel Addleman (Palo Verde HS) was clutch with a team-high 20 points after going 8 for 8 from the free throw line and scoring the final six points for the Aztecs in their 69-66 comeback win over No. 10 seeded North Central Missouri on Tuesday in the opening round of the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (26-7) took the court for its first game at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament on Tuesday against North Central Missouri College (23-7).

The Pima Community College women’s basketball team is heading back to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament next week in Port Huron, Michigan as the NJCAA announced the seedings and brackets.

The Aztecs women's basketball is heading back to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament after they captured the program's eighth NJCAA Region I Championship after beating Scottsdale Community College 59-50 on Saturday in the Region I, Division II title game. The Pima Community College women’s basketball team is heading back to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament for the eighth time in program history.

Sophomore Angel Addleman (Palo Verde HS) had no blemishes in her shoot as she scored a game-high 18 points going 5 for 5 from the field and 8 for 8 from the free throw line as No. 1 seeded Aztecs women's basketball beat No. 4 Chandler-Gilbert Community College 83-66 in the NJCAA Region I, Division II Semifinals. The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (23-7, 16-6 in ACCAC) dropped its final regular season game on Tuesday at Eastern Arizona College (28-1, 21-1).

The No. 13 ranked Aztecs women's basketball team beat Central Arizona College 70-68 and secured the No. 1 seed for the NJCAA Region I, Division II Tournament. The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (23-6, 16-5 in ACCAC) picked up a pivotal victory on Saturday against Central Arizona College (15-15, 10-11) at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.

Freshman Dominique Acosta (Nogales HS) scored a game-high 18 points off the bench as she went 6 for 9 from the field and 6 for 6 from the foul line in No. 13 Pima Women's Basketball's 86-51 win over Chandler-Gilbert Community College. The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (22-6, 15-5 in ACCAC) led from the get-go on Wednesday against Chandler-Gilbert Community College (10-17, 6-14) at the West Campus Aztec Gym.

Sophomore Angel Addleman (Palo Verde HS) finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists while Camilla Norton (Casteel HS) added 10 points as she went 3 for 5 from three-point range off the bench in No. 15 ranked Pima's 76-50 win at Glendale Community College. The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (21-6, 14-5 in ACCAC) gained another ACCAC conference road win on Saturday after beating Glendale Community College (5-21, 3-16).

Sophomore Torrance Begay was instramental in the first quarter run and preserving a lead in the fourth quarter as the No. 15 ranked Aztecs women's basketball team beat Arizona Western College 74-64. The Pima Community College women’s basketball team (20-6, 13-5 in ACCAC) picked up its 20th win of the season on Wednesday in its road win at Arizona Western College (18-7, 11-7).
