Dominique Acosta scores 16 off the bench as Women's Basketball cruises in 2022-23

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (1-0) opened the 2022-23 season on Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium.

  • The No. 18 ranked Aztecs defeated SAGU American Indian College 103-44. The Aztecs outscored the Warriors by double digits in every quarter.
  • The Pima bench scored 59 points on the night and were led by freshman Dominique Acosta (Nogales HS), who scored a game-high 16 points on 8 for 11 shooting. She also had eight rebounds.
  • Sophomore Priscila Varela (Mesquite HS) finished with 13 points while sophomore Torrance Begay (Page HS) contributed with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
  • The Aztecs shot 46 percent from the field and hit 11 3-pointers.

The Aztecs will hit the road for the Eastern Arizona Classic from Nov. 10-12 in Thatcher. They will open play against Eastern Wyoming College on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
