The Pima Community College women's basketball team (23-7, 16-6 in ACCAC) dropped its final regular season game on Tuesday at Eastern Arizona College (28-1, 21-1).

  • The No. 10 ranked Aztecs (Division II) lost to the No. 14 Gila Monsters (Division I) 59-43 in Thatcher. The Aztecs and the Gila Monsters are No. 1 seeds in their respected region tournaments next week.
  • Sophomore Torrance Begay (Page HS) finished with a team-high 13 points as she was the only Aztec to score in double figures.
  • Sophomore Matehya Aberle (Holbrook HS) posted nine points and eight rebounds while sophomore Luisa Chavez (Rio Rico HS) added eight points, five rebounds and four steals.
  • The Aztecs produced a conference record of 16-6 for the fourth time of the last six years (excluding the 2020-21 covid season).

The No. 1 seeded Aztecs will play No. 4 Chandler-Gilbert Community College in the NJCAA Region I, Division II Semifinals on Wednesday, March 8 at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
