Hong named ACCAC Player of the Year for a second time

Members of the Pima Community College women's golf team were recognized in the All-Conference and All-Region teams released on Wednesday.

Sophomore Desiree Hong (Sahuaro HS) was named ACCAC Conference Player of the Year for the second straight season. She was also selected first team All-ACCAC conference and first team All-Region.

Hong averaged a 74.8 per round played as she shot a 72 or below in seven of the 12 rounds this season. She never finished below second place in any tournament. She won two tournaments and tied for first place in three of them. Hong has verbally committed to play for the University of Arizona next fall.

Sophomore Samantha Hacker (Sahuaro HS) was named second team All-ACCAC for the second straight year and first team All-Region. She shot on average an 85 per round.

Freshman Abby Miller (Ironwood Ridge HS) was named second team All-Region. Her best round came at the final round of the Pima Invitational after she shot a 76.

The Aztecs finished in second place in the final team standings behind Mesa Community College. They took second place in six of the seven tournaments this season.

The Aztecs will play in the NJCAA National Tournament at the Chateau Elan Golf Club in Duluth, GA on May 15-18.
