Esquivel takes fourth place as Aztecs women's golf finish fourth at South Mountain Invitational

The Pima Community College women's golf team competed in its first invitational of the season on Monday and Tuesday.

The Aztecs took fourth place in the final team standings with a score of 743 (365-378). They lost their hold on third place to South Mountain Community College as they finished with a 717 (372-345). Mesa Community College won the invitational with a score of 649 (327-322).

Freshman Araceli Esquivel (Salpointe Catholic HS) had the best two-day total for the Aztecs as she finished fourth in the individual standings. She improved her second round by six strokes and shot an eight-over par for the day to finish with a 164 (85-79).

Freshman Clara Solano (Tucson HS) struggled in her second round of play. She shot an 84 in the first round and took 15th in the standings with a 190 (84-106). Freshman Elizabeth Satterfield (Ironwood Ridge HS) was tied for 16th with a two-day score of 193 (99-94) while Julianne Gonzalez (Ironwood Ridge HS) finished with a 200 (97-103).

The Aztecs will compete in the Scottsdale Invitational on Feb 12-13 at the Hillcrest Golf Club in Sun City, AZ. The teams will begin to tee off at 11:00 a.m. on both days.
