Romero scores only goal as Aztecs women's soccer shut out Phoenix College

The Pima Community College women's soccer team (2-0, 2-0 in ACCAC) earned its second straight shutout victory on Saturday in Phoenix.

The No. 7 ranked Aztecs handed Phoenix College its first loss of the season in a 1-0 win. After a scoreless first half, the Aztecs found the back of the net when freshman Aracely Romero (Tucson Magnet HS) scored her goal to break the tie in the 59th minute. Freshman Alexis Aguirre (Nogales HS) had the assist.

Pima outshot Phoenix College 6-3 for the game and Daniela Sanchez (Sabino HS) finished the game with three saves.

The Aztecs will be back at Kino North Stadium on Thursday when they host Arizona Western College at 4:30 p.m. This game was rescheduled due to a rainout from Aug. 22.
