Pedersen has two assists as Aztecs women's soccer shut out Mesa CC

The Pima Community College women's soccer team (6-2-1) posted another shutout victory on Tuesday against Mesa Community College.

The Aztecs defeated the Thunderbirds (4-4-1) 2-0 shutting out a team for the fourth time in their last five games. The Aztecs have also won five of their last six and outscored their opponents 22-2 in the last six games.

Sophomore Emily Gallagher (Sahuaro HS) put the Aztecs on the board with a header goal in the 6th minute off a corner kick assist from sophomore Bailey Pedersen (Mountain View HS).

The Aztecs continued to dominate their side of the field and their pressure paid off again when freshman Kylee Martin (Sahuaro HS) scored in the box with another corner kick assist from Pedersen in the 34th minute.

The Aztecs held the Thunderbirds to just two shots on goal as sophomore Tara Kase (Buena HS) had one save. Freshman Mackenzie Bernal (Tanque Verde HS) played the final 32 minutes in front of the net and recorded a save.

The Aztecs will be back at Kino North Stadium on Thursday when they host Arizona Western College at 4:30 p.m.
