The Pima Community College women's soccer team (4-0, 1-0 in ACCAC) opened ACCAC conference play on Saturday against GateWay Community College (0-4, 0-1).
- The No. 1 ranked Aztecs scored three goals in the second half and went on to drop the Geckos 4-0. It was the first time this season the Aztecs had scored multiple goals. They also secured their fourth straight shutout victory.
- Freshman Meredith Scott (Walden Grove HS) gave the Aztecs some breathing room when she scored on an assist from sophomore Caitlyn Maher (Catalina Foothills HS).
- Freshman Kyleigh Oliver (Salpointe Catholic HS) scored the final two goals for the Aztecs in the 63rd and 67th minutes as Scott assisted in both goals.
- Sophomore Delaney Buntin (Cienega HS) put Pima on the board with her goal in the 28th minute.
- The Aztecs held the Geckos to one shot on goal. Sophomore Angelina Amparano (Salpointe Catholic HS) had one save while freshman Adriana Pacheco played the final 24 minutes and had no saves.
The Aztecs will play at South Mountain Community College on Tuesday in Phoenix. The teams are on the pitch at 12:30 p.m.
