The Pima Community College Athletics department has a new leader. Ken Jacome, the Pima baseball head coach for the last six years, accepted the Athletic Director’s position. Jacome is 214-90 in six seasons. He picked up his 200th win on March 19 at Glendale Community College. He will remain the program’s head coach.

Freshman Maylee Thompson (Willcox HS) finished fourth in the Heptatlon with 4081 points while freshman Mariah Cruz (Mountain View HS) placed fifth in the 10,000 meters race with a time of 46:26.09. The Pima Community College women’s track & field team began postseason competition on Monday and Tuesday at the Region I Multi’s Championships held at Mesa Community College.

The No. 3 ranked Pima Community College women’s track & field team competed at the Triton Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the University of California San Diego in La Jolla, CA.

The Pima Community College women’s track & field team opened the 2024 Outdoor Season as it set five new NJCAA Outdoor Season national qualifying times/marks at the University of Arizona Spring Break Fiesta and the Mesa Multi’s this weekend.

The Pima Community College women’s track & field team closed out competition at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships on Saturday at the Alachua Sports and Events Center in Gainesville, FL.

Freshman Maylee Thompson (Willcox HS) took fifth place and earned four team points in the Pentatlon with a score of 3002 points. It was a personal-best and also placed her fourth in the Pima Indoor all-time school records. The Aztecs are tied for 18th place in the team standings with four points. The Pima Community College women’s track & field team closed out the first day of competition at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships on Friday at the Alachua County Sports and Events Center in Gainesville, FL.

Sophomore Trinity Bethea broke her own indoor school record in the 400 meters with a time of 57.72 while freshman Reatta Danhof (Ironwood Ridge HS) broke the indoor school record in the 800 meters at 2:24.19. Freshman Roxy Christensen set a national qualifier in the Triple Jump at 11.45 meters (37-6.75). The women's team finished with 12 national qualifying marks and times during the Indoor Season. The Pima Community College women’s track & field team competed at the CAC Indoor Invitational on Saturday in Coolidge, AZ.

The Aztecs women's track & field earned two more national qualifying marks at the PVCC Indoor Invitational on Saturday in Phoenix. Freshman Larissa Blanchard (Perry HS) took the No. 2 spot in Pima Indoor school history finishing the 60 meters with a time of 8.93 seconds. Freshman Ja'Niya Ross (Desert Vista HS) earned a qualifier in the High Jump (1.62 meters) and freshman April Necaise tied her qualifying mark in the High Jump (1.62 meters). The Pima Community College women’s track & field team competed in its second meet of the season on Saturday as part of the Paradise Valley CC Indoor Invitational in Phoenix.

Sophomore Tianna Moseley and freshman Maylee Thompson (Willcox HS) each set two NJCAA national qualifying marks to open the 2024 season on Saturday in the Jim Mielke Memorial Invitational. Moseley set hers in the Triple Jump (11.74 meters) and Long Jump (5.54 meters) while Thompson set hers in the Pentathlon (2869 points) and Long Jump (5.54 meters).
