Aztecs volleyball hangs tough but fall at No. 9 Mesa CC

The Pima Community College volleyball team (5-11, 2-4 in ACCAC) played three tough sets at No. 9 Mesa Community College on Wednesday.

The Aztecs kept it close but couldn't overtake the Thunderbirds (12-5, 5-2) in the end falling in straight sets 28-26, 27-25, 26-24.

Sophomore Victoria Davis (Sahuaro HS) finished the match with a double-double of 19 kills and 23 digs. Fellow sophomore Kayli Riesgo (Cienega HS) also produced a double-double of 43 assists and 16 digs. Sophomore Anissa Conrad (Sahuaro HS) had 22 digs while sophomore Kylee Ashment (Highland HS) had eight kills, two blocks and two aces.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Gymnasium on Friday when they host No. 11 Glendale Community College at 7:00 p.m. The Aztecs lost in straight sets to the Gauchos last month in Glendale but played them to a five-set non-conference match on Sept. 9 at the Scottsdale Classic.
