The Pima Community College volleyball team (7-12, 4-5 in ACCAC) couldn't keep up with Scottsdale Community College on Friday in Scottsdale.

The Aztecs dropped straight sets to the No. 18 Artichokes (13-5, 7-4) 25-15, 25-19, 25-14.

The Aztecs surrendered the final four set points in the first set.

They fell behind early in the second set but rallied to take an 8-7 lead. With the score tied at 9-9, the Aztecs gave up five straight points. Pima would get as close as two points down the stretch but could not overtake the lead.

In the third set, the Aztecs were forced to play catch-up again for the entire set.

Freshman Kaitlin Schmich (Mountain View HS) finished with a double-double of 11 kills and 13 digs. Sophomore Victoria Davis (Sahuaro HS) had eight kills and 16 digs.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Gym on Wednesday when they host Yavapai College at 7:00 p.m.
