Romero Throws Shutout as Aztecs Baseball Scores 17 Runs

The Pima Community College baseball team (20-13) dominated in a non-conference game at the West Campus against the White Rock Tritons (Canada) on Wednesday.

The Aztecs won 17-0 in seven innings as they scored eight runs in the second inning to take control. Five Pima players had two RBIs.

Sophomore Francisco Rodriguez (Tucson Magnet HS) went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and three runs scored while freshman Manny Ramirez (Bisbee HS) finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. He also had two doubles. Freshman Oscar Larranaga (Sunnyside HS) was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and three runs scored and sophomore David Oropeza (Nogales HS) went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Freshman Ernesto Romero (Salpointe Catholic HS) threw a shutout as he pitched all seven innings giving up four hits with eight strikeouts and two walks. He improved to 3-1 on the season.

The Aztecs will play a non-conference single game against Monroe Community College (NY) on Friday at the West Campus. The game starts at 2:00 p.m.
