Aztecs football produces 14 players on All-League teams; Hall, Wells and Rembert nominated for All-American

The Pima Community College football team made a pretty big splash as 14 student-athletes were selected to the All-ACCAC and All-WSFL teams.

  • Sophomore defensive back Derik Hall (Sahuaro HS) was named first team All-ACCAC and All-WSFL (83 tackles, three tackles-for-loss, one interception in nine games).
  • Sophomore offensive lineman Tyler Wells was named first team All-ACCAC and All-WSFL. He played in eight games. The Aztecs averaged 25.8 points overall and 30.2 points in conference play. They averaged 328.1 yards per game overall and 364.2 yards in conference play.
  • Sophomore wide receiver Larry Rembert was named second team All-ACCAC and first team All-WSFL (37 catches for 775 yards, 3 TDs in nine games).
  • Hall, Wells and Rembert were nominated for NJCAA All-American consideration.
  • Sophomore defensive lineman Tony Fair was selected second team All-ACCAC and All WSFL (46 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss and two sacks in seven games).
  • Sophomore wide receiver Dylan Holt was named second team All-ACCAC (25 receptions, 258 yards, 2 TDs in nine games).
  • Sophomore linebacker Moris Lugo was also selected second team All-ACCAC (68 tackles, nine tackles-for-loss, two sacks, two fumble recoveries and two interceptions in nine games).

All-ACCAC Honorable Mention

  • Sophomore wide receiver Jon Cole (29 catches, 409 yards, 6 TDs in eight games).
  • Sophomore defensive lineman Brandon Maddox (49 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles and two pass-breakups in seven games).
  • Sophomore defensive lineman Supilani Mailei (46 tackles, four sacks, one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries in eight games).
  • Freshman defensive lineman Tommy Woo (64 tackles, three sacks, two tackles-for-loss, two fumble recoveries in nine games).
  • Sophomore linebacker Leon Huey (60 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss, one sack, one interception, two pass-breakups).
  • Sophomore defensive back Christian Maddox (36 tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions and 13 pass-breakups in nine games).
  • Sophomore defensive back Tommy Lawrence (59 tackles four tackles-for-loss, one sack, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three interceptions and two pass-breakups in eight games).
  • Freshman return specialist Diamante Burton (nine kick returns for 340 yards (37.8 average) and one TD).

The No. 20 ranked Aztecs (6-3) finished the regular season nationally ranked for the second time in program history. They will play No. 4 Kilgore College in the C.H.A.M.P.S Heart of Texas Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 1 in Waco, TX.
