Volk Nets 22 but Aztecs Men's Basketball Fall at Eastern Arizona

The Pima Community College men's basketball team (4-4, 1-3 in ACCAC) could not cut into an early deficit in its game on Saturday at Eastern Arizona College (10-2, 4-1).

The Aztecs fell 101-80 in Thatcher as they struggled to find rhythm on offense in the second half.

Down 34-20 in the first half, Pima cut the lead to five points after they went on an 11-2 run to make it 36-31. They trailed 42-35 at halftime. They fell behind in double digits at 58-46 with 14:09 left in the game and couldn't put together a strong run. With a little over four minutes left, they went on a 6-0 run to cut it to 84-73 but that's as close as they'd get.

Sophomore Cameron Volk (Tucson Magnet HS) finished with a team-high 22 points. He also had five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Freshman Kwintin Williams contributed with 19 points and seven rebounds while sophomore Justice Martion struggled in the second half as he scored seven of his nine points in the first half. He also had 10 rebounds.

The Aztecs will be back at the West Campus on Wednesday when they host Cochise College at 7:30 p.m.
