Five Aztecs Score in Double Figures as Men's Basketball Dominates

The Pima Community College men's basketball team (8-7) closed out its non-conference schedule and kicked off 2016 with a dominating win on Sunday.

The Aztecs defeated Just Hoops Prep 105-67 as they took control from the get-go. Pima opened the game up with a 22-4 run and hit nine 3-pointers in the first half. They led 59-27 at the break.

Freshman Kwintin Williams dominated the first half with his play as he scored 24 of his 26 points in the first half. He finished the game shooting 11 for 16 from the field. He also had six rebounds and three steals. Sophomore Yusef Shehata (Amphitheater HS) scored 17 points as he went 4 for 6 from three-point range. He also had six assists. Freshman Jake Anastasi (Cactus Shadows HS) had 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

The Pima bench contributed with 40 points as they were led by freshman Damon Dubots, who had 14 points and nine rebounds. Fellow freshman Luke Smith (Mountain Ridge HS) contributed with 11 points.

The Aztecs will get back to ACCAC conference play on Wednesday when they host Division I team Arizona Western College at the West Campus gymnasium. The game will be at 7:30 p.m.
