The Pima Community College men's basketball team (9-7, 4-4 in ACCAC) picked up a huge win on Wednesday as the Aztecs got back to ACCAC conference play on Wednesday at the West Campus.

The Aztecs upset No. 16 ranked Arizona Western College (13-3, 6-2), a Division I team, 91-85. Up 84-79 with 1:07 left in the game, the Aztecs held possession and as Damon Dubots missed a jumper, his teammate Keven Biggs was under the basket for the offensive rebound and scored with a chance for a three-point play. That made it 86-79 with 38 seconds left. Biggs and Zach Evans (Hamilton HS), both freshmen, each hit a pair of free throws late to seal the win.

The Aztecs trailed for much of the first half, as they fell behind by as much as 11 points on two occasions. Sophomore Yusef Shehata (Amphitheater HS) hit his third 3-pointer of the first half which gave Pima a 31-30 lead at the 2:42 mark. That was Pima first lead of the game. The Aztecs led 35-34 at the break.

In the second half, the Aztecs built a 58-50 lead after two more three-pointers by Shehata but Arizona Western came back to tie at 60-60 with 9:24 left. Shehata hit his sixth 3-pointer to give Pima the lead back at 63-60. Arizona Western tied it on one more occasion at 68-68 with 6:45 left but Biggs drained a three-pointer of his own to make it 71-68. From there, the Aztecs went on a 7-0 run to make it 75-68 with a little over five minutes left.

Shehata finished the game with a team-high 26 points. He went 6 for 10 from three-point range. Biggs scored 22 points as he went 7 for 9 from the field and 7 for 10 from the free throw line. Sophomore Justice Martion had 19 points and nine rebounds while freshman Kwintin Williams had a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Evans had nine points and three steals.

The Aztecs look to build on their momentum as they play at Central Arizona College, a Division I team, on Saturday. The game starts at 4:00 p.m.
