Carrasco selected ACCAC Player of the Week after 41-point outburst

Pima Community College men's basketball player Abram Carrasco (Cholla HS) claimed his third ACCAC Division II Player of the Week award on Thursday for the week of Feb. 18-24.

  • Carrasco, a guard, averaged 31.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game. He shot 59.5 percent from the field and was 9 for 17 from three-point range. He scored 41 points in Pima's 107-102 win against Phoenix College last Saturday.
  • Carrasco finished second in the ACCAC Player of the Year voting as he was selected first team All-ACCAC and first team All-Region I, Division II.
  • He needs 12 points to pass Greg Cook's record set in 1980 for the most points scored in a Pima career. Carrasco has a total of 1,229 points.

The No. 1 seeded Aztecs will host No. 4 Glendale Community College on Wednesday at the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium in the NJCAA Region I, Division II semifinals. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
