Goza shoots even-par in first round of NJCAA Division I tourney

The Pima Community College men's golf team completed the first round of play at the NJCAA Division I National Championship on Tuesday in Melbourne, FL.

  • The Aztecs finished with a team score of 296 and were 17th out of 24 teams in the standings.
  • Freshman Cody Goza (Blue Ridge HS) shot an even-par 72 for the day at the Duran Golf Club and is tied for 34th place out of 122 competitors in the individual standings.
  • Freshman Samuel Salisbury (Walden Grove HS) and sophomore Diego Cueva-Schraidt (Sabino HS) each finished with a 2-over par 74.
  • Freshman Matthew Fimbres (Cienega HS) closed out his round with a 76 while fellow freshman Curtis Goldin (McClintock HS) shot an 84.

The Aztecs continue play at the Duran Golf Club on Wednesday for the second round of play.
