Aztecs Men's Golf strongholds team-lead after two rounds at NJCAA Region I, Division I Championships

The Pima Community College men's golf team completed its first two rounds of play at the NJCAA Region I, Division I Championships on Thursday and Friday at the Corte Bella Golf Course in Sun City West, AZ.

  • The Aztecs sit in first place in the team standings with a two-day total of 576 (285-291) as they lead by 26 strokes over Estrella Mountain Community College.
  • Freshman Max Krueger (Salpointe Catholic HS) leads the individual standings with a 143. He completed Thursday's first round with a 3-under par 69 and shot a 2-over par 74 on Friday.
  • Freshmen Daniel Henely (Cienega HS) and Jay Shero are tied for second place in the standings as they each have a score of 145. They both had 1-over par 73 rounds on Thursday and closed out at even-par 72 for their second rounds of play.
  • Freshman Tommy Rosenvall finished his first two days shooting a 147 (74-73) while freshman AJ Quihuis (Salpointe Catholic HS) had a 148. He shot a 2-under par 70 on Thursday but posted a 78 for the second round.
  • The Aztecs continue play in the NJCAA Region I, Division I Championships on Saturday and Sunday. The teams tee off around 12:40 p.m. on both days.
