Aztecs Men's Soccer can't stranglehold lead, ties with Phoenix College

The Pima Community College men's soccer team (5-0-1, 2-0-1 in ACCAC) battled with rival Phoenix College on Saturday at the West Campus Aztec Field in a game between top NJCAA Division II teams.

• The No. 1 ranked Aztecs took the lead but the No. 3 ranked Bears responded with two unanswered as the game finished in a 2-2 tie. This was the first meeting between the Aztecs and the Bears since their NJCAA Region I, Division II Finals where the Bears won in a shootout.
• The Aztecs took the lead 54 seconds into the game when freshman Nicolas Nourry scored on an assist from sophomore Ernesto Osornio (Ironwood HS). The Aztecs went up 2-0 when sophomore Jacob Garcia (Walden Grove HS) scored in the box in the 25^th minute. Osornio provided his second assist of the game.
• The Bears built momentum towards the end of the first half when Ivan Lopez scored in the 43^rd minute. They tied the game when Ivan Corral scored in the 65^th minute.
• Neither team scored in the two 10-minute overtime sessions so the game ended in a stalemate.
• Freshman Cristian Sattin finished with eight saves.

The Aztecs hit the road on Tuesday for a matchup at Glendale Community College. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
