Aztecs women's basketball upsets No. 15 Central Arizona College

The Pima Community College women's basketball team (4-5, 1-3 in ACCAC) earned its biggest win of the young season on Wednesday as it knocked off a ranked ACCAC Division I team.

  • The Aztecs dropped No. 15 ranked Central Arizona College 77-71 in Coolidge earning their first conference win; while handing the Vaqueras (6-2, 3-1) their first conference loss of the season.
  • The Aztecs were outscored 30-13 in the third quarter to trail 49-45 but responded by beating the Vaqueras 32-22 in the fourth.
  • Sophomore Jacqulynn Nakai (Coconino HS) scored a team-high 25 points as she hit three 3-pointers in the game. Fellow sophomore Shauna Bribiescas (Dobson HS) went 6 for 6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and finished with 13 points.
  • Freshman Hallie Lawson (Campo Verde HS) contributed with 10 points while sophomore RyLeigh Long added eight points.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Saturday when they host Scottsdale Community College. Tipoff will be at 2:00 p.m.
