Aztecs women's basketball regroups with 69-point win against Southwestern College
The Pima Community College women's basketball team (2-1) responded after Thursday's loss with a dominant performance in Friday's game against Southwestern College.
- The No. 3 ranked Aztecs defeated the Jaguars by 69 points at 103-34. The Aztecs outscored Southwestern College 53-10 combined in the second and third quarters.
- Sophomore Hallie Lawson (Campo Verde HS) scored a team-high 22 points on 10 for 12 shooting and also six rebounds.
- Fellow sophomore Marlena Arroyo-Plata (Campo Verde HS) had a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. She went 5 for 6 from the field. Freshman Dianne Hefner also scored in double figures with 13 points on 5 for 6 shooting to go along with six rebounds and two assists.
- Freshman Justine Cooper (Chandler Prep HS) had nine points and six rebounds while freshman Fama Thiam (Highland HS) finished with six points, seven assists and four steals.
*Saturday's game with Palo Verde College is cancelled.
The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 16 when they host Arizona Christian University JV. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
