Gutierrez has a goal and assist as Aztecs women's soccer blanks Cochise College

The Pima Community College women's soccer team (5-3-2) got one back in the win column on Thursday in Douglas against Cochise College (3-6-1).

  • The Aztecs scored three goals in the first half and beat the Apaches 3-0 for their fourth shutout win of the season.
  • Freshman Taylor Gutierrez (Tucson HS) scored Pima's second goal in the 30th minute and assisted in sophomore Tayler Rinehart's goal in the 39th.
  • The Aztecs outshot the Apaches 13-2. Freshman Haven Chambers (Walden Grove HS) had one save in the first half. Sophomore Mackenzie Bernal (Tanque Verde HS) finished with one save in the second half.

The Aztecs begin the second half of the season on Saturday as they host Arizona Western College at Kino North Stadium. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. The Aztecs lost to the Matadors 5-1 in the first game of the season.
