Oropeza and doubles team Nunez/Carbajal fall in consolation semi's at NJCAA Division I tourney

The Pima Community College women's tennis season came to an end after the third day of competition at the NJCAA Division I Tournament.

  • The Aztecs finished with a team score of six points.
  • Freshman Melina Oropeza (Nogales HS) defeated Ashlynn Miller from Jacksonville College (TX) 6-1 in the No. 2 singles consolation quarterfinals. She went on to the semifinal round but lost to Ariadna Jordan from Jones County Junior College (MS) 6-0.
  • The No. 3 doubles duo of freshmen Jazmin Nunez (Cholla HS) and Noelia Carbajal (Sunnyside HS) won their consolation quarterfinal match over Grace Marino and Keely Mulcahy from Lake County Community College (IL) 7-6 (5). They fell in their consolation semifinals match to Crissy Cruz and Kailee Upchurch from Wallace State Community College (AL) 6-3.
  • Carbajal dropped her No. 6 singles consolation quarterfinal match to Maja Rulj from St. Petersburg Community College (FL) 6-0.
