The Pima Community College Athletics department set new records with 11 of the 13 teams receiving NJCAA All-Academic recognition and a new school record of 74 student-athletes earning All-Academic distinction.

The Pima track & field/cross country programs are hosting summer camps for high school-college freshman (June 21-24) and youth (July 20-22) at the West Campus Aztec Track.

The Pima Community College track & field and cross country programs will host summer camps at the West Campus Aztec Track part of the Chapman Automotive Sports Complex.

Pima Community College women’s track & field student-athlete Jackie Trice (Williams Field HS) will compete at the NCAA Division I level.

The Aztecs Women's Track & Field team closed out the 2023 season on Saturday as it tied for 17th place with 13 points at the NJCAA Division I National Championships. The Pima Community College women’s track & field team closed out the 2023 season on Saturday at the NJCAA Division I National Championships.

Sophomore Jackie Trice picked up another four points for the Aztecs as she took fifth place in the Heptathlon with a total of 4453 points. She set a new personal-record in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.91 meters (19-feet, 4.75-inches). Photo courtesy of Chad Harrison

Pima Community College women’s track & field athlete Jackie Trice (Williams Field) closed out competition in the Heptathlon on Friday and earned more accolades.

Freshman Brooke Peterson (Mingus HS) took second place in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.67 meters (12-0.50) and sophomore Jackie trice became a two-time NJCAA All-American in the Long Jump after taking eighth place with a mark of 5.71 meters (18-8.75). The Pima Community College women’s and men’s track & field teams competed in the first day of the NJCAA Division I National Championships on Thursday in Hobbs, NM.

Freshman Taylynd Stuhr tied for second place in the High Jump with a mark of 1.47 meters (4-feet, 9.75-inches) as the Aztecs women's track & field team took third place with 125 points at the NJCAA Region I Championships. The Pima Community College women’s track & field team closed out competition at the NJCAA Region I Championships on Thursday in Mesa.

Sophomore Jessica Bright-Schade (Safford HS) claimed the Region I title in the Javelin (36.93 meters (121-2) while freshman Brooke Peterson (Mingus HS) won the Pole Vault event (3.72 meters (12-2.50). The Pima Community College women’s track & field team made waves after the first day of the NJCAA Region I Championships on Tuesday at Mesa Community College.

Freshman Johnathon Lane (Walden Grove HS) set a national qualifying time in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at 9:21.47. It was the third national qualifier he has set and it was the fastest time by a Pima athlete since Alejandro Valencia's time of 9:20.31 set in 2013. Photo courtesy of Mark Bennett

The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field teams competed in their final regular season meet on Saturday as part of the Canyon Invitational held at Grand Canyon University.

The Aztecs women's and men's track & field teams produced a combined five 1st place finishes at the Mesa Outdoor Invitational: Trinity Bethea (400 meters), Trey Tintinger (High Jump), Tianna Moseley (Triple Jump), along with Brooke Peterson (Pole Vault) and Joshua Bowen (Javelin). The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field team competed at the Mesa Outdoor Invitational on Friday in Mesa.

Sophomore distance runner Joel Gardner (Ironwood Ridge HS) broke the Pima School Record in the 5,000-meter race at the Triton Invitational after he took first place with a time of 14:12.84. The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field team competed at the Triton Invitational on Friday and Saturday at University of California San Diego in La Jolla, CA.

The Pima Community College women’s track & field team competed at the ACCAC Conference Championships on Friday at Glendale Community College.

Sophomore Tristan Spalding (Palo Verde HS) set two national qualifiers at the Willie Williams Classic on Saturday. He set a qualifier in the 400-meters with a time of 47.89 seconds. Spalding, along with Broden Cahoon, Nathan Plant and Orion Barger, set a national qualifier in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:17.11. The Pima Community College men’s and women’s track & field teams competed in the final day of the Willie Williams Classic on Saturday as the Aztecs set two new national qualifying times at the Roy P. Drachman Stadium.

Freshman Brooke Peterson earned a national qualifying mark in the Pole Vault with a mark of 3.67 meters (12-feet, 0.50-inches) while sophomore Jessica Bright-Schade set a national qualifying mark in the Javelin at 38.47 meters (126-feet, 2-inches) at the GCU Invitational. Photos by Ben Carbajal

The Pima Community College women’s track & field team competed in their first meets of the 2023 Outdoor Season this week at the Mesa Multi’s Meet and the GCU Invitational.

Sophomore Jackie Trice earned NJCAA All-American honors for her sixth place finish in the Pentathlon (3328 points) and sixth place finish in the Long Jump (5.71 meters, 18-feet, 9-inches) while fellow sophomore Candice Pocase placed seventh in the Pole Vault (2.85 meters, 9-feet, 4.25-inches) to grab NJCAA All-American honors. The Pima Community College women’s track & field team competed at the NJCAA Indoor National Championships on Friday and Saturday at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.

Sophomore Tristan Spalding broke his own school record in the 200 meters with a time of 21.60 seconds. Freshman Abraham Valenzuela set a national qualifying time in the one-mile race (4:27.97) while sophomore Trey Tintinger improved on his national qualifier in the High Jump (2.11 meters (6-feet, 11-inches)).
