Aztecs volleyball play 10 sets and earn split to open season

The Pima Community College volleyball team (1-1) opened the regular season on Friday at the New Mexico Military Institute Classic in Roswell, NM and finished the day playing 10 sets.

In its first match of the day, The Aztecs took the first game but had to rally to force a fifth set. In the end, they lost against South Mountain Community College 18-25, 25-18, 25-20, 20-25, 15-6.

The Aztecs responded in the second match. They won the first two games but had to hold off furious surge as they defeated Seward County Community College (KS) in five sets 25-19, 25-13, 27-29, 20-25, 16-14.

The Aztecs will close out play tomorrow in the NMMI Classic against Hutchinson Community College (KS) at 8:00 a.m. and Garden City Community College (KS) at 2:00 p.m.
