Scarborough Posts 14 Kills as Aztecs Volleyball Beats Eastern Arizona

The Pima Community College volleyball team (4-3, 2-1 in ACCAC) played a tight matchup on Friday against Eastern Arizona College but found ways to win the close sets.

The Aztecs beat Eastern Arizona College in four sets 25-27, 26-24, 26-24, 25-20.

After dropping the first set, the Aztecs found themselves in danger of dropping the second game. Down 24-20, the Aztecs took advantage of some Eastern Arizona miscues and scored the final six set points. Angel Chavez put down an ace to seal the second set win. In the third set, Brooklyn Scarborough (Thatcher HS) (pictured) and Jamie Holliday (Sahuaro HS) put down the final two kills as the Aztecs took the lead in the match.

The Aztecs trailed in the fourth set 17-16 but Scarborough had two crucial blocks at the net to put the Pima ahead for good. Holliday put down the final kill to seal the victory.

Scarborough finished with 14 kills while Holliday finished with 15 kills and 14 digs. Kristin Baldwin (Thatcher HS) had 10 kills and Miranda Bingham (Safford HS) posted 45 assists.

The Aztecs will host a non-conference match at the West Campus on Wednesday against Benedictine University in Mesa at 7:00 p.m.
